In 2004, the Down Syndrome Foundation of Orange County began developing The Learning Program, an educational program for students with Down syndrome and their parents. The program supplements formal education through direct instruction to parents and students and monthly home-use materials. With a focus on literacy, math, communication and fine motor skill development, The Learning Program seeks to empower parents as first teachers and improve academic outcomes for students with Down syndrome. The Down Syndrome Association of Greater Toledo is excited to bring The Learning Program to families living in Northwest Ohio and Southern Michigan that support children with Down syndrome! We are piloting this program this fall, winter and spring with the first level which is suggested for children ages 2 through 7.
