In 2004, the Down Syndrome Foundation of Orange County began developing The Learning ProgramTM , an educational program for students with Down syndrome and their parents. The program supplements formal education through direct instruction to parents and students and monthly home-use materials. With a focus on literacy, math, communication and fine motor skill development, The Learning ProgramTM seeks to empower parents as first teachers and improve academic outcomes for students with Down syndrome. The Down Syndrome Association of Greater Toledo (DSAGT) is excited to bring The Learning ProgramTM to families living in Northwest Ohio and Southern Michigan that support children with Down syndrome! For this pilot program, we are focusing on Level 1 which is suggested for children ages 2 through 7 (pre-K through first grade).

Although the 2016-2017 program year is full, we are ALWAYS welcoming volunteers! Contact Renee Canfield (renee@dsagt.org, 419-536-4321) if you are interested in volunteering for The Learning Program once a month!
